Pre-Team

At Grassroots we offer a Pre-Team program which is by invitation only. This invitation is based on your daughter's work ethic, attitude, and overall excellent performance in her recreational class and/or at the Team Try Out. The intention of this group is to prepare your daughter to join the Competitive team the following season.

Pre-Team will require a 2-hour, two day a week commitment.

Developmental

USAG Developmental

The Developmental Program was developed with the belief that all athletes, regardless of their potential, must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely. The program allows the gymnast to advance at her own pace, competing in more than one level in a year, if she so chooses. The Women’s Junior Olympic Program is divided into three major segments; developmental, compulsory, and optional.

The Developmental Levels may be used as a non-competitive and achievement-oriented program for use within a gym’s pre-team program, or they may be used as an introductory/recreational competitive program.

Compulsory Levels 2 - 5

All of these levels are progressive in nature, building upon the skills required at the previous level. Competitive opportunities are provided up to and including the USA Gymnastics State Championships.

Optional Levels 6-10

Levels 6, 7, 8, and 9 have difficulty restrictions, while Level 10 has no restrictions in the skill choice. The composition is evaluated at Levels 8, 9, and 10. Refer to the Jr. Olympic Code of Points for a complete explanation of Level 6-10 rules.

USAG Xcel Program

The Xcel Program is designed to offer a broad-based, affordable competitive experience outside the traditional Jr. Olympic Program to attract and retain a diverse group of athletes.

Xcel is a great program for gymnasts that:

  • Are a variety of levels, abilities, ages, and commitment levels and want to enjoy all the benefits that gymnastics has to offer while having more flexibility.
  • Have a passion for gymnastics and want to stay involved in the sport for the long term, while not striving for the goal of being a Level 10 or elite gymnast.
  • Cannot be in the gym the number of hours that the Developmental program requires because of other activities or sports but still want to be a competitive or non-competitive gymnast.
  • Have fears of skills that the Compulsory programs require them to have. In Xcel, requirements are more flexible.

Registration Fee:

All Students will be charged an annual registration fee of $40/child, or $80/family (2 or more children). This fee is good for 12 months and covers any classes and camps.
